Kevin Western has 38 years experience in the fields of pharmaceutical formulating and compounding, in particular in the formulation and compounding of sterile pharmaceuticals has had extremely valuable spin-offs into the world of tissue culture activities.
As a Compounding Pharmacist he has designed, partially overseen construction, and commissioned the large ‘ Sterile and Non-sterile ‘ compounding section of a major Australian hospital all of which conforms to strict guidelines set out by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia and which performs in accordance with the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice for Therapeutic Goods. Kevin's roles include coordinator, formulator, manufacturer, trainer, organiser and consultant .
To fulfil those roles Kevin's comprehensive knowledge base, his understanding of the principles and limitations of sterilisation; design, maintenance, operation and limitations of Facility and Equipment; Staff training and Orientation is absolutely fundamental in assuring safe and effective outcomes. Kevin's Unit has formulated and compounded safe and effective pharmaceutical products for use in experimental situations, clinical trials and regular day-to-day use with patient safety being absolutely paramount in all that we do.
Through past Tissue Culture Laboratory consultancies I have solved numerous problems for his customers by determining the basis of the problem(s) and by educating them in the means to remove the problem and to avoid a return of the problem(s). He also evaluate practices and processes and where necessary, recommend options to improve reliability and efficiency of outcomes with a view to problem removal and improved profitability.
